First of all, happy New Year to all our users, partners and friends! We've always had tremendous feedback from all of you sharing new ideas on how to make iSedora even better. Thank you!

The last year was great for the development of the new version. We moved fully native with server and user interface parts of the program on both Mac and Windows. Needless to say, it had required full rewrite of the code using new toolchains. The transcoding engine was also repacked and optimised for speed and resource usage.

The move to native codebase on both platforms was the main reason for such a delay with the new version. On the other side, we've built a very solid foundation for years to come. BTW, iSedora is almost eight years on the market, which means that we love our product and committed to move forward.

Some of the new features:

  • All new user interface for managing preferences and devices localised in English, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese (both European and Brazil), and Russian;
  • Full support for Retina / HiDPI resolutions;
  • Independent server process running in background. This will allow for true native service startup configuration either at boot or user login;
  • The long requested support for playlists is coming;
  • Unencrypted DVD/BD playback from devices or folders. DVD playback will support ISO disk images;
  • Multi-page TIFF images;
  • All new PDF rendering engine on Windows. Faster, better quality, more standard compliant;

When to expect? We plan to release new version of iSedora in May, depending on how smooth the beta testing will be. More detailed release schedule will be available later, after internal testing is finished.

Happy New Year!
The iSedora Team
